Parra, Crew dropped in 10, 6-5

In what is best described as a seesaw evening, the Crew finished down on the ground, losing the second game of the series to the Mets, 6-5, in 10 innings.
After Rickie Weeks spotted Brewers’ starter Manny Parra a 1-0 lead with a home run off MLB newcomer Jonathon Niese to lead off the bottom of the first, Parra gave up a pair of runs in the Mets’ second, followed by three more in the top of the third on a Carlos Beltran shot, to give the Metropolitans a 5-1 cushion.
The Brewers’ bats countered with a 4-run 4th–Bill Hall led off with a single, followed by a ground rule double by catcher Jason Kendall; Parra then helped his own cause, hitting the first of two doubles on the night, plating Hall and Kendall. Rickie Weeks and J.J. Hardy then followed with singles…Hardy’s knock plated Parra and chased Niese from the game. Former Brewer Nelson Figueroa then fanned Ryan Braun, walked Prince Fielder, and served up a single to Corey Hart that scored Weeks but resulted in Hardy getting nailed at home. Mike Cameron fanned to end the inning with the game tied at 5-5.
After 5 scoreless innings, the Mets plated the winning run when pinch-hitter Daniel Murphy singled, and advanced to third when a Jose Reyes sacrifice bunt fielded by Kendall pulled Weeks off of first. Endy Chavez hit a sacrifice fly to plate Murphy and the eventual winning run.
The loss dropped the Crew to 80-58, still 4 back in the loss column of the first-place Cubs and still 5 up on the Phillies (in the loss column) for the Wild Card. Dave Bush tries to avert the sweep Wednesday afternoon.
