Anticipation..

In 6 days, Jordan Brand will release a limited number of Ray Allen XIII's to Boston-area sneaker spots. Since I first saw Ray sporting these at the Garden the night he broke Reggie Miller's 3-point record, I've wanted them. For those not in the know, these kicks are the same model/colorway that Ray wore that night. They have Ray's signature "ShootMan" on the tongue. SoleFly Miami was the 1st to release them, and the demand was so extreme, they had to raffle-off opportunities to purchase them. No word yet if the Boston stores involved will have similar raffles. Sneakerheads come-out in droves for exclusive kicks like these.

This is arguably the most-anticipated release of 2011 for sneakerheads, and especially those sneakerheads who are Ray Allen/Boston Celtics fans. It his generated extreme buzz on the web since it was first announced in mid-June as seen on Counterkicks. Originally, the word was that these beauties would only be dropping at House of Hoops Boston and SoleFly-a sneaker spot in Miami. But this week it was learned that Concepts and 2 FootAction stores in Massachusetts will also have some pairs for the 7/23 release date.

Releases like this are always hectic and sneakerheads from all over the country will be descending on Beantown to try and cop a coveted pair of Ray's kicks. Concepts will cater strictly to Boston heads, as they tweeted yesterday: "We will be selling the Ray Allen PE 13's to Mass residence only. Mass ID required.." Not sure why, but that tweet has since been deleted. Oh, and they also tweeted that they will have 18 pairs. That's right folks only 18. Trust me-if you plan on getting your XIII's there, you better get there Friday night with a comfortable chair or sleeping-bag.

No word yet on how many pairs Footaction will get, but House of Hoops Boston will most likely carry the most. Their is also an exclusive t-shirt dropping with the kicks.(pic below) It features a great old-school caricature of Ray Allen. I'm still ironing-out the details, but you better believe I will be camping-out at one of these locations on Friday night in hopes of copping a pair of these beautiful kicks. I hope to have some pics/video up here next week. Good luck sneakerheads! Unless you're a 9.5-then I hope I beat you to the line…
