Your Morning Dump… Where Rondo admits to taking the Perk trade too hard

Perk and rondo
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Rondo refused to use injuries as an excuse for losing in the second round of the playoffs to the Miami Heat. But he also believes the trade of Perkins, his closest friend on the team, affected the Celtics “more than it should have.”

“It wasn’t like the man passed away or something,” Rondo said. “I think we put too much emphasis on it. It’s a business. He got traded. He’s very happy where he’s at. We still talk and I’m always going to have his back. It shouldn’t have affected us the way it affected us.”

I wonder how much "us" really applies to that comment.  Rondo clearly took it too hard.  I wonder who else did too.  KG?  I don't think Pierce or Ray did.  Pierce has seen a million players come and go over his time here and Ray has been traded a few times so he gets the business.  But KG is so emotional that I can see it bugging him and we know Rondo and Perk were tight.

And we all knew that it bugged this team, but we all also knew that it shouldn't have had that much of an affect.  It's easy to blame Danny Ainge for pulling the trigger on that trade when he did.  But this falls as much on the players as it does him.  Get it together fellas.  You're pros.

That link goes to a pretty wide-ranging interview Marc Spears did with Rondo.  Rondo also talks about expecting this year's roster to shape up just fine, how he'd like to play with Glen Davis but he gets it if he leaves, and getting Doc Rivers back with the team.

The only other news out there at the moment is E'Twaun Moore reportedly signing with a team in Italy.
