Ultimate 1-on-1 matchup #4: Bill Russell vs. Frank Ramsey

1-on-1 Another blowout in the Red's Army Ultimate 1-on-1.  Dennis Johnson waxed Ed Macauley with 84% of the vote.  We were afraid of the older guys in C's history would get demolished by the more recent guys because, quite frankly, the game was a bit different back then.

So be it.  DJ advances and he'll face off against former teammate Kevin McHale in a few days.

Today's matchup features a similar matchup of teammates, except from a different era. 21st seed Frank Ramsey matches up against 12th overall Bill Russell in an interesting small vs. big game of 1-on-1.

(12) Bill Russell
1-on-1 Advantage:  Size, defense.  Bill Russell seemed to block every shot that went up against him.  At 6'9", he's not TOO big to go up against a guard but not too small to face a big man.

1-on-1 Disadvantage:  Shooting.  Russell could finish around the basket, but his range doesn't extend out too far.  Unless he gets in close, he might have a tough time scoring.

(21) Frank Ramsey

1-on-1 Advantage:  Defense, guile:  Ramsay has been called the "master of deception" and is not afraid to play dirty.  He'll throw elbows if he has to to get in your head.  Could force an opponent to get flustered.

1-on-1 Disadvantage:  Size
He's only 6'3", so even a big guard can back him down.  Unless he gets hot from the outside, it will be tough to rebound a miss and get many opportunities in a make-it, take-it game like this
