Ultimate 1-on-1: Ray Allen vs. Sam Jones

1-on-1 Kevin Garnett had no problem with Bob Cousy yesterday, taking nearly 90% of the voting.  In a few days, KG will take on the winner of the Larry Bird/Dave Cowens matchup.

Today we go over to the other side of the bracket for our 4/5 matchup of Ray Allen vs. Sam Jones.  Ray is our 7th overall seed, while Jones is the 10th overall.  This should be a very interesting matchup of similar players.

(7) Ray Allen
1-on-1 Advantage:  Shooting.  Ray can flat out bury any shot on the floor.  And when he's hot, forget it.  You cannot back off him at all, or else you run the risk of him smothering you with jumpers.

1-on-1 Disadvantage:  Ballhandling, height.  To be fair, Ray can handle the ball well enough to get past someone if they're playing tight.  But we've seen Ray in his Celtics days get ripped when he's had to dribble too much.  If he has to face good defensive guard, he could have trouble clearing some space with the dribble.  And at 6'5", he'll have a tough time rebounding against a taller player.  Also, even though he's in great shape, Allen is small enough to get muscled by a stronger player.

(10) Sam Jones

1-on-1 Advantage:  Shooting. Jones used the bank shot as a deadly weapon.  Super-quick first step allows him to clear space.

1-on-1 Disadvantage: Height, strength.  At 6'4" and less than 200 lbs, he could be pushed around by a stronger player.
