Your Morning Dump… Where Rondo & Pierce are going on tour

European vacation

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

In a trip that could resemble Team USA's takeover of the world stage at the 2008 Beijing Games, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Carlos Boozer, Paul Pierce and Kevin Love are among the players expected to participate. Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett, among a few others, are also contemplating joining the tour.

So the rest of the world gets to see the basketball that we so desperately crave? Great. I look forward to the grainy, jumpy live streams.

Rondo and Pierce are officially signed for the tour. KG is still "possible" (guess anything is with him, AMIRITE?!?!!1!).

I'm actually not holding my breath for KG.  These older guys or guys with injury histories have a bitch of a time getting the necessary insurance for things like this.  Considering KG's salary, age, and recent history of injuries, there's no way he'll get insured.

On Page 2 (yes, we're doing a page 2!)… progress in labor talks, or not, depending on who you read.

Wyc in carThe NBA and Players Association have made progress on the proposed revenue split between owners and players, an important element in settling a new collective bargaining agreement and ending the lockout, league sources involved in the ongoing labor negotiations told Yahoo! Sports.

As long expected, the two sides have moved closer to a “50-50 split, give or take a point with ranges based on revenue performance,” one source said.

Yahoo: NBA owners, players closer on revenue split

After 24 ½ hours of meetings with NBA owners and players over two days, George Cohen went to the only place someone hoping to cling to some shred of sanity would go.

The hotel bar.

Whatever his beverage of choice, it certainly was well deserved, and presumably much needed. Though I also presume they were not ordered in the copious quantities I would've required after dealing with a negotiating logjam that makes the European bailout seem like a debate at the lemonade stand over who does the squeezing and who makes change.

I've stopped trying to guess.  Read both pieces and and come up with your own conclusion.  I'm joining Cohen at the bar.

…. YES I'M AWARE WHAT TIME IT IS!!
