Taking Stock: Celtics-Knicks

Taking stock

After each game, we'll be taking stock in each players… and maybe coach's… performance.  If we like what we see, we're buyin'.  If we don't, we're sellin'.  Or maybe we'll just hold onto our stock until we see more next game

BuyRajon Rondo: Oh man was this a great performance from Rondo.  He was aggressive for most of the game and certainly tried his best to make up for Paul Pierce's absence. 31 points and 13 assists is dominating and the best part is he made 9 of 12 free throws.  That's a pretty good start for a guy with his history.  I do feel like he should have pushed it more towards the end, but overall, a beauty of a performance.

Brandon Bass:  The 20 points were great.  The 11 rebounds were better.  The 5 offensive rebounds were even better than that.  But the thing that I liked the best out of all if it was when he grabbed an offensive board, up faked, waited for a defender to get by, and then rose up to finish with a dunk.  That's something we didn't have in the past from that position.

SellSasha Pavlovic:  Our buddy A. Sherrod Blakely put it best when he tweeted "I'm no Miss Cleo, but I'm thinking once Pietrus is healthy, Sasha's going to be doing what I'm doing – watching lots of #Celtics b'ball."

The 5-5-5 plan: So much for limiting KG's minutes.  KG played until the 6:16 mark in the 1st quarter, then he checked back in at 3:01.  He didn't sit again until there were 3 seconds left in the half.  It was much better in the second half, where Doc pulled KG at the 5:37 point in the 3rd, and then checked him back in with 10:00 left in the game.  It's just one game, but we're going to need this guy for the long haul.

HoldKevin Garnett's post game:  It has been in slow decline for a while now.  I think we've hit the point where it's a fadeaway jumper or nothing for KG in the post.  You might argue it's been that way for a while.  And he can still make some great passes out of the post.  I think that it's fadeaway or nothing from now on, though.  I putting this in the "hold" section because (a) I hope I'm wrong and (b) I really hope I'm wrong.
