Taking Stock: Celtics – Suns

Taking stock

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value.

Starters

Green arrow

Avery Bradley: More good than bad for Avery last night.  The D on Nash was solid, he finished at the rim and he was 3-6 from 16-23 feet.  As much as I get on the guy for his long range inaccuracy, 50% from that distance is pretty good.  Here's hoping this spurs some confidence in the kid, which might be just what he needs.

Sideways_double_arrow

Paul Pierce:  He was asked to facilitate, which he did with 6 assists.  And early on, it looked like he was going to carry the team.  But he cooled significantly.  He started 3 for his first 5, then went 2 for his next 9.

Sideways_double_arrowRay Allen:  8 shots for Ray.  Not good enough.  He passed up a few looks that he should have taken.

Red arrow

Kevin Garnett:  I can't really say much more.

Red arrow

Jermaine O'Neal:  Same here.

Sideways_double_arrowBrandon Bass:  11 points, 6 rebounds, and a +1.  But like everyone else, he was settling for mostly jumpers.  It's just that his were going in.

Sideways_double_arrow

Mickael Pietrus:  I'd like a little more out of him in 24 minutes.

Red arrow

Marquis Daniels:  What happened to the aggressive, slashing Quis we saw in pre-season?

Red arrow

E'Twaun Moore:  The kid clearly needs some work.  He made a nice move to tie the game last night, but other than that, it's obvious our expectations were a little too high.

Sideways_double_arrowGreg Stiemsma, JaJuan Johnson, Sasha Pavlovic: Remember when Sasha Pavlovic got minutes?

Coaching

Red arrow

Doc Rivers:  He wanted to put the bad offense on himself?  OK, then.  At some point, Doc Rivers is going to have to make a tough decision.  Putting all these guys out there on the same floor at the same time might not work.  In games like that, you can mix things up, try to find some energy, and maybe spur the team on a little bit.

This is a different season that will require different thinking.

OVERALL

Red arrow

I can't talk about this game anymore. This was maybe the ugliest loss of the year.
