Rondo has the 10th most popular jersey in the NBA

JerseysThe NBA announced it's most popular jerseys, and Rajon Rondo is 10th on the list.  Here's the top 15:

1. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls
2. Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks
3. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
4. LeBron James, Miami Heat
5. Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks
6. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat
7. Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
8. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
9. Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers
10. Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics
11. Amar’e Stoudemire, New York Knicks
12. Ray Allen, Boston Celtics
13. Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
14. Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
15. Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers

One thing to keep in mind, these numbers are "based on sales at the temporary NBA Store on Fifth Avenue and on NBAStore.com from April 2011 to present," according to the NBA.

The picture here is actually one I took recently in a mall in Pennsylvania.  Rondo's jersey was the only Celtics jersey in the joint.  Granted, that's an isolated case and I don't know what would have happened if I'd traveled to the next mall up the highway, but it was interesting that Rondo's jersey was the only one there and that, even with Chris Paul going to a new team in a major market, he still out-sold CP3.

My theory: Rondo's huge games on nationally televised broadcasts make him a league-wide fan favorite, even though the home fans are a little more divided.

For the record, The Celtics as a whole are the 6th most popular team as far as jersey sales.
