Saints Nation: Thomas Morstead and Jahri Evans to Pro Bowl

Ryan Tannehill, Richie Incognito, Mario Williams

Pro Bowl rosters were announced and only two Saints players made it to the starting roster this year. Guard Jahri Evans is headed to the game for the fourth year in a row, and punter Thomas Morstead who is one game away from breaking the all time net yards average record for a season is a first timer. While both are very much deserved, Evans' place amongst the elite group is expected, but Morstead's addition comes as a nice surprise. Not because he's undeserving, mind you, he's clearly the best punter in the NFL. But it is hard for a lesser known player on a small market team to get noticed, and the fact that he did speaks volumes about just how good he is. Congratulations to both players.

The big omission was of course Drew Brees, who finished behind RGIII, Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan. Not entirely surprising when you consider the season that all four quarterbacks had. That said, there is a 50% chance one of those three quarterbacks will end up in the Super Bowl, which would vault Brees into the game. Brees ended up the 3rd best rated passer in the NFC behind Ryan and Rodgers according to PFF, but that wasn't enough to keep him ahead of media darling Griffin. Marques Colston missed out on an invite yet again, too, but we should be used to that by now.
