The Bruins are a lucky group, hanging out in Anaheim where the high is going to be about 73. Are you shitting me? 73? I'd be out tanning in 73 degree weather. Just kidding, I don't tan. My lovely German skin just turns a deeper shade of red. Anywhoozle, the Bruins are starting their West Coast road trip or as I like to call it "half asleep by the end of the first period" trip.
Anaheim is a monster at home with a record of 17-0-2. That's right folks, we're halfway through the season and Anaheim hasn't suffered a home regulation loss yet. I never thought that they would be playing so well under the adult version of a Garbage Pail Kid, but here we are.
What's surprising to me is that Jonas Hiller is becoming a useful goaltender. He's not out of this world and he's not considered among the "elite" goaltenders in the NHL, but he's quietly providing solid tending for the Ducks. On the year, his GAA is 2.47 and he has a SV% of .911. Normally you would scoff at such numbers (or maybe you wouldn't), but when the Ducks have a goal differential of +35, he's gotta be doing a solid job.
The Bruins are looking at a deep Anaheim team that some consider to be the best in the West. While they have a first line that can run with anybody in the league, they also have balanced scoring. It will be a test for one of the East's best teams – who are banged up. I'll get into that more later in the preview.
