Andrew Daniel Named Player of the Month

Angel minor league second baseman Andrew Daniel has just been announced as the Texas League’s Player of the Month.  Daniel had a terrific month of July for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers in which he hit .378, had three home runs, had 18 RBI, and scored 20 runs.

On the season, Daniel has a .361 on-base percentage to go with five home runs and 17 doubles.  He was drafted by the Angels in 2014 out of the University of San Diego.  The 23-year-old is currently second in the Texas League in batting average.

This is more good news for the Angel farm system, coming on the heels of Troy Scribner being named the Pacific Coast League’s Pitcher of the Week, the addition of pitchers Jesus Castillo and Alex Meyer in this week’s trade deadline deals, and the acquisition of first baseman Matt Thais and others in this June’s draft.
