Divisionally Speaking

Rangers back up Antti Raanta talks about what Olli Maatta has to look forward when he serves his mandatory 6 month military service in Finland.

…And the award goes to…Nick Foligno. Yikes.

Are the Canes for sale, even to a buyer looking to relocate them? Karmanos says no, despite the team president stating that they had an offer, but were forced to turn it down.

This twitter bot makes up hockey news and also shows just how sad and pathetic it is to spew opinions and made up rumours on Twitter and call yourself a “hockey writer”. It’s also totally worth following.

Defensive prospect Lukas Bengtsson returned this week after a prolonged bout of Lyme Disease.

WBS came from behind last night for a win over the Hershey Bears. The Penguins continue to roll to start the season, leading the Atlantic with the best record in the AHL.

This week also saw a relatively minor deal,  sending Reid McNeill to St. Louis for Danny Kristo. McNeill spent the last 4 years moving up from Wheeling to WBS. Here’s some stats on Kristo.

Wheeling

The Nailers had their 5 game winning streak snapped Saturday in Indianapolis. Chistian Hilbrich scored the only goal for Wheeling. You may remember him as the crazy tall dude the Penguins signed this summer.

They also traded Kenton Miller to Elmira for future considerations.

Connor McDavid had his first of many NHL hat tricks Saturday night. The Coyotes have sent McDavid’s former teammate Dylan Strome back to OHL Erie.

Mitch Marner is certainly not going anywhere, as he’s been pretty dazzling for the Leafs, thus far. His goal against Florida the other night was ridiculous. Worth a watch. Or another.

Hey, remember those few minutes over the summer, with nothing else to talk about, when we all pretended to care about the name of the new team in Vegas? Well, now nobody cares, but they’re finally telling us on Tuesday. The suspense.

In four days, we celebrate bland bird meat, British Imperialism, and occupying the same house with awkward family members while trying to avoid political conversations. Enjoy.
