Andrew Luck in concussion protocol, likely to miss Steelers game

Philadelphia Eagles v Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Scott Tolzien attempted one pass during the entirety of last season, but it looks like he’ll be staring in Thursday night’s game against the Steelers.

In Tolzien’s defense, he did complete that pass, and it went for four yards vs. the Cardinals, coming in garbage time in the Packers’ 38-8 loss.

Anyway, Luck has been hit more than any quarterback in the league, and it looks like that’s taken a toll on him. It’s unclear when it happened during Sunday’s game against the Titans, but the Colts starting quarterback has been placed in concussion protocol.

And that means Tolzien will likely start under center.

Obviously, this would drastically change the Colts offense. The downfield passing game takes a huge hit, and the Colts will probably look to work the short passing game — screens, slants, etc. — in an attempt to get their playmakers in space and force the Steelers to make tackles.

This obviously gives the Steelers a huge advantage a game, with Tolzien going up against Big Ben Roethlisberger. The Colts defense is going to have to try to find a way to get stops and turnovers, because the Steelers are going to get their yards.
