The Lightning continued to struggle mightily as they faced the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second time in three games.  Tampa struggled to get any sustained offense going and struggled to respond defensively. It proved to be a deadly combination as Columbus secured a definitive 5-1 victory.

It was pretty much all Blue Jackets from start to finish.  Their onslaught began with a William Karlsson goal at 5:30 in the first period. They would go on to score four more unanswered goals from Alexander Wennberg, Josh Anderson, Scott Hartnell, and Sam Gagner.

Sergei Bobrovsky lived up to his reputation and stopped 26 of 27 shots faced. The Lightning would end his shutout bid on a Valtteri Filppula goal at 17:10 in the third. It was far too late for a rally and Tampa continued the road trip with another loss.

Andrei Vasilevskiy got the start in net and made 33 saves on 38 shots.  Nikita Kucherov lead the team with 5 SOG and in ice time for a forward with 22:53. He was second in ice time only to Victor Hedman.

The Bolts were without Ryan Callahan who was kept out of the line up with a lower-body injury.

The Lightning travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues on Thursday.
