Le’Veon Bell vows he won’t let the Bengals hurt him again

Pittsburgh Steelers v Buffalo Bills

Le’Veon Bell doesn’t have any intention of suffering yet another injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bell suffered a knee injury in 2014 against the Bengals and missed the playoffs. Last year, he hurt his knee again after a hit by Vontaze Burfict, which ended his season.

Now the Pittsburgh Steelers running back has opened up about the upcoming matchup, according to ESPN.com’s Jeremy Fowler:

“I’m pretty sure they are going to do whatever they got to try to get me off the field. It is what it is. I understand that,” Bell said. “The last two times I’ve played them, it’s been that way. I’m obviously not going to let it happen a third time. I’m going to be prepared for everything. Got to, because with my mindset I have to be smart about it.”

Bell can’t afford another injury and the Steelers certainly can’t afford to lose him. He just rushed for more than 230 yards and three scores against the Buffalo Bills last week. That production goes away and so do the Steelers.

FiveThirtyEight took a look at just how dominant Bell has been:

The injury woes for Bell have added another layer to the Steelers-Bengals rivarly as of late. No matter which side of the fence someone falls on when it comes to whether the injuries have been purposeful or not, it’s no fun to see one of the league’s best players go down.

Football fans have to hope Bell sticks true to his word on this.
