Texans bench Brock Osweiler for Tom Savage

Jacksonville Jaguars v Houston Texans

The Houston Texans have seen enough of quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Osweiler started Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars 6-of-11 with 48 yards and two interceptions, helping his team fall into a 13-0 hole against the two-win team. As such, the coaching staff decided it was time to pull the plug and go to Tom Savage.

Twitter captured the reaction:

Remember, Osweiler inked a deal with the Texans over the offseason worth about $70 million after looking like a solid option with the Denver Broncos. Not content to be the successor to Peyton Manning, Osweiler went ahead and joined a team he thought looked like a contender.

Osweiler, though, has struggled all season in Houston, throwing 14 touchdowns and interceptions going into Sunday’s game.

Now comes the fun part. If Savage looks good, it’s hard to imagine Osweiler gets his starting gig back—an odd turn of events considering the Texans are still in first place in the AFC South and appear headed to the playoffs.

Stay tuned.
