El P****o

New York Mets v New York Yankees

When we last left you, Keith Hernandez was wondering what El Peñaco meant in the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals.

For the second game, after Hansel “El Peñaco” Robles walked three guys to bring in the tying run and set up the winning run for the Nationals in the sixth inning (after the Mets had taken the lead in the top of the sixth on a Brandon Nimmo home run which lit up Tanner Roark’s anatomy), I was thinking of some other Spanish words that Robles could have used for his Players Weekend jersey. I won’t repeat them here, but keep in mind I grew up in Jackson Heights, so I know them all.

Sean Doolittle tried to make the game interesting by giving up a run in the ninth and putting the tying and winning runs on base, but he delivered a victory for them in the nightcap. Adam Lind’s home run in the ninth off of Goopy turned out to be the difference. Good thing this game didn’t count for anything. Judging from the crowd in Washington, they knew it didn’t count for anything as well.

The Mets continue their pointless meandering road trip in Cincinnati.
