New Orleans Pelicans v Atlanta Hawks

The hits just keep on coming (injury-wise) for the New Orleans Pelicans as their top small forward Solomon Hill will miss much time with a torn hamstring. This latest injury report was revealed by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that said Hill has undergone surgery to repair the hamstring & could miss MOST of the season.

A statement from the Pelicans Organization stated:

“New Orleans Pelicans forward Solomon Hill has been diagnosed with a proximal hamstring tear in his left leg, it was determined following examination by Dr. Michael Gerhardt and consultation with Pelicans Director of Medical Services/Head Team Physician Dr. Misty Suri. The injury occurred while Hill was participating in a basketball workout in Los Angeles, CA.

Hill underwent successful surgery by Dr. Gerhardt in Santa Monica, CA and is expected to make a full recovery. An injury of this nature takes approximately 6-8 months to heal. A timetable for his return will be determined at a later date.”

It should be noted that the Pelicans Director of medical services/ head team physician Dr Misty Suri was fired by the New Orleans Saints as one of the doctors who misdiagnosed corner-back Delvin Breaux. The same owner owns both teams so Suri was allowed to stay employed with the Pelicans.

This latest development puts pressure on the Pells small forward depth to step up because the team is cash strapped. The other natural small forwards are: Quincy Pondexter, Daruis Miller & Jalen Jones.

Solomon Hill signed with the Pelicans last off-season for 4 years at $48 million that’s an average of $12 million annually. Hill averaged 7.0 ppg 3.8 rebs 28.7 mins & shot a miserable 34% from downtown in 80 contests in which he started 71 of. Those numbers weighed against $12 million a year is a major reason Solomon has gotten a lot of heat from Pelican Fandom who thought he was capable of better.

In a prove it year for the Pelican Brass coupled with DeMarcus Cousins impending free agency & AD/Boston Celtic rumors, Dealer Dell will have to work his magic before he disappears as GM of the team.
