Oklahoma City Thunder fans may still think Kevin Durant is a bit soft around the edges, but the Warriors superstar had no problem embracing the “cupcake” label en route to winning his first title.
And now he’s using that moniker to profit off — rather than bring him down — which is pretty smart if you think about it.
Durant showed off his new shoe, the Nike KDX sneaker’s red velvet cupcake edition, and they’re pretty sweet. Notice the laces, which resemble cupcake icing.

KD then baked red velvet cupcakes with Buzzfeed, so take that, haters. He even poked some fun at them in doing so.
“My favorite memory of red velvet was being called a cupcake every time I touched the ball in Oklahoma City,” Durant said. “That was fun. That’s why it was so funny to us after we won the basketball game. It was kind of a little jab to the fans in Oklahoma City, but it’s all fun and games.”
