LiAngelo Ball reportedly has pre-draft workout scheduled with the Lakers

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers

SB Nation:

It wasn’t clear how many teams would seriously look at LiAngelo Ball — the brother of Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball — during the lead-up to the 2018 NBA Draft, but according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype, the former UCLA commit has at least five teams to give him a look.

According to Kennedy, the Lakers are among them.

.@LiAngeloBall says he interviewed with the Thunder and Suns yesterday at the @ProBBallCombine. After this event ends, he has private workouts scheduled with the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors.

Did LaVar do it again, or did LaVar do it again? Probably not. It would be remarkable if Ball actually signed with the Lakers after everything that happened this past year. Gelo is not looked at as a potential NBA talent by any means — the LaVar hype and headlines certainly helped his stock. No such thing as bad publicity am I right? Gelo only averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game on 42% shooting and 41% from three point land. It wouldn’t shock me at all if a team signs Gelo as an undrafted free agent for 10 cents on the dollar.

But, I would be flabbergasted if LiAngelo came into the league and played decent minutes. Twelve points per game against skinny Lithuanian kids doesn’t move the needle in the NBA. We aren’t talking about the competition Luka Doncic and Real Madrid face in Europe here. I really do hope he proves me wrong — but from the tape, I just cannot see him as an impact player in the NBA.
