LeSean McCoy doesn’t practice, remains hopeful for Sunday

San Francisco 49ers v Buffalo Bills

Bills running back LeSean McCoy sat out practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury he suffered last week, according to NFL.com.

McCoy was injured in practice, then played Sunday at Miami and re-aggravated the injury. McCoy carried the ball eight times for 11 yards, and the Bills lost 28-25 to snap a four-game winning streak.

The Bills are still holding out hope that McCoy can play Sunday at home against the Patriots, but perhaps they should have taken a big-picture look at the schedule before allowing him to suit up in Miami.

The Dolphins (3-4) are a team on the rise and the Bills (4-3) want to stay ahead of them. But they’ve beaten the Patriots (6-1) once this season and if they win Sunday, they’ll be just a game behind them in the AFC East and they’d have the tiebreaker.

McCoy is fourth in the NFL with 598 rushing yards, but he wasn’t much help Sunday in Miami. Resting him might have increased the Bills’ chances of winning that game and put him in better shape to possibly pull even with the Patriots Sunday.

Now, with McCoy at less than 100 percent, the Bills could be looking at a three-game deficit in the division.
