Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain may be done playing in the NFL for good.
What started as a good comeback story, quickly came to a screeching halt due to McClain’s off-the-field issues. He began his career with the Raiders, but was kicked out of practice in 2012 for being a distraction to the team, and later released in 2013. Also in 2012, McClain was convicted of assault and wrongful discharge of a firearm.
He was forced into retirement, but got a second chance with the Cowboys in 2014, and had a good season. He recorded 87 tackles and a sack as well, and looked to be a big part of the team’s LB corps.
However, he was suspended for the first 10 games of this season due to a drug violation, and hasn’t played a down this year. Furthermore, he reportedly missed a drug test before being eligible to return Nov. 21, which has caused him to be suspended indefinitely by the league.

The Cowboys haven’t released him yet, but if McClain is hit with another suspension, it’d be for one year this time, and he wouldn’t be eligible to play until December 2017. It’s hard to see another team taking a chance on him, either.
