Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield Returning For Senior Season

Akron v Oklahoma

Longshot Heisman contender and Oklahoma starting QB Baker Mayfield will return to the Sooners for his senior season. Mayfield will return in 2017 to enormous expectations, not only for himself, but for the Sooners program as well. The 6’1′, 209 pound signal caller is coming off of his second consecutive Big 12 title with the Sooners and wants to three-peat as well as have a shot at a National Championship. Unrealistic? No. The Sooners intend to return a strong backfield and a strong defense. Coach Bob Stoops is a perennial great recruiter so with some fresh talent and continuity — the Sooners could once again be in the mix for a National Championship.

In 2016, Mayfield threw for over 3,300 yards, 35 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. His Heisman hopes were dashed with the emergence of Lamar Jackson, Jake Browning and, his own teammate, Dede Westbrook. But, a return in 2017 could bring better luck and bigger numbers for Mayfield.
