Either Barry Melrose is the all knowing analyst we think he is or all the baseball analysts at ESPN called in sick on Thursday. On ESPN’s First Take — also known as Let’s Talk About Something, Anything to Kill Some Airtime — he joined Skip Bayless and Jackie MacMullan in breaking down some baseball plays. First Take, formerly Cold Pizza, has always been pretty lame. It has become infinitely more pointless since ESPN decided to start running live Sportscenters all day on the mothership and this was another fun exercise in futility. Because, well, that’s how desperate you have to be to have BM breaking down baseball. (He also broke down Blue Jays highlights on the live Sportscenter today, but we don’t have video of that, so whatev. Email us if you do.)
