Let’s play the ‘What if?’ Game

While I was in Toronto in May, I naturally visited the Hockey Hall of Fame. Among other exhibits, there was one wall-sizedposter that claimed something like “The First 100 years of the Montreal Canadiens.” The only problem with this poster was that it ended with the Habs’ glorious Staley Cup win…in 1993.

When I first saw this poster, I thought it was anothe timeline that was part of the recent Habs Centennial exhibit, and I was kind of confused. I mean, it’s 2009, not 1993…right?

It turns out that this poster may be part of some other thing, because it went back to 1893, before there was an NHL and such. But let’s play the “What if? game, just for giggles. What if….it was still 1993?

In 1993, I was six years old.

If I had more than 10 dollars, I was rich.

Wanting to be Darkwing Duck when I grew up was totally acceptable.

I wasn’t a Leafs fan yet, but I still loved floor hockey in gym.

I didn’t have Internet yet.

I could read, but I couldn’t write.

And (like I told some of the people at the Pension Plan Puppets Pub Night ) it had only been 26 years since the Leafsl ast Cup win. AND they were in the playoffs that year. Boo YAH.
