Brian Billick calls Ben Roethlisberger a ‘drama queen’

You can take the coach out of the rivalry, but you can’t take the rivalry out of the coach.

Former Ravens coach Brian Billick said on 104.3 The Fan in Denver that Ben Roethlisberger is a “drama queen.”

Roethlisberger, who suffered torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder during last week’s AFC wild-card win at Cincinnati, is listed as questionable for Saturday’s AFC wild-card game at Denver. He threw for the first time since that game on Friday.

Billick, who coached the Ravens from 1999-2007 and therefore has coached against Roethlisberger, said “There’s no one tougher than Ben Roethlisberger by far in the NFL, but he’s a drama queen.”

The Steelers quarterback did have a reputation for making injuries look worse than they really were earlier in his career. Billick intimated that Roethlisberger will act that way again in Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game at Denver, then throw a “60-yard bomb to Martavis Bryant.”

Roethlisberger’s injury had to be pretty serious, however, because he was carted into the locker room and missed part of the game.

If he really wanted to look more hurt than he really was, that’s taking it a little too far.
