Short and Sweet:
After being out for seven weeks with a right shoulder injury, Danny Salazar returned to the Tribe Saturday night and reminded everyone why he was an All-Star last season. Salazar faced the minimum number of batters through seven shut out innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight. Andrew Miller, who has struggled as of late, gave up a home run to Justin Smoak in the top of the eighth which tied the game at one, and was enough to send the game into extra innings.
In the beginning of the 10th Francisco Lindor mishandled a grounder that put the go-ahead runner on base, and could have been the difference in the game. Fortunately Cody Allen and Brian Shaw were able to get out of the inning which meant Lindor would bat First and get a chance to redeem himself after his gaffe in the field. Redeem himself he did with his first walk off home run on the seventh pitch of the at-bat just as the rain started to pick up on the corner of Carnegie and Ontario. It was the Indians’ first walk off since their opening series at home in April.
