#TribeTopThree Tribe offense quiet, clinch AL best record

Cleveland -1
Chicago White Sox -2

Short and Sweet:

Before this game got under way, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Houston Astros this afternoon 6-2. This ensures that the Indians would have the AL’s best record and home field advantage throughout the entire postseason should they make it that far. Corey Kluber has his rockiest start in recent weeks only going five innings but with one earned run and three strikeouts. The White Soxs’ Kevan Smith produced both RBIs as he singled in the fourth and doubled in the sixth. Francisco Lindor grounded into a force out scoring Yan Gomes as the score remains 2-1 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning of play.

The Tribe are trailing in a game which has been quite rare this season with the top of the batting order due up this half inning. Also, today Cleveland reinstated Michael Brantley from the disabled list in time for the playoffs but unclear on who gets left off the postseason roster because of this move. Jose Ramirez draws a four pitch walk as they have a baserunner on with two outs in the home half of the frame. Edwin Encarnacion strikes out swinging to end the threat as we approach the ninth. Dan Otero pitches a hitless inning of work keeping the Indians within a run as they look to walk it off against the White Sox.

Tribe Top Three:

3. Jason Kipnis-13% of Twitter vote

1-4 in today’s game as they only have three hits overall in the contest.

2.Yan Gomes-13% of vote

Scored the game’s only run for the Tribe as Lindor grounded out in the bottom of the sixth inning.

1.Michael Brantley-74% of vote

Fresh off the disabled list, he stroked a smooth single to left field and thus deserves the honor of today’s top three winner.

Honorable Mention:

Nick Goody pitched an inning  of one hit ball not allowing any runs to cross the plate and keeping it within distance of a score of 2-1.

Tribe Time Tomorrow:

The regular season concludes tomorrow with a start time of 3:10 pm EST with Josh Tomlin on the mound for the Tribe. Chris Volstad will oppose him for Chicago as the Indians go for the series win. Also, the winner of Tuesday’s wild card game between the Twins and the Yankees will travel to Progressive Field for the division series!
