Cardinals Go Down Easy & Quick

Larkin

Did the Cardinals eat some bad cheesesteaks and just want to get out of town?

Kind of had the look of it Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia as Justin Masterson got run after 3 innings and the offense was feckless against Jerome Williams and his 5+ ERA.

In all ended – mercifully – after only 2:33. I’ll say this for the Cardinals, when they fold – they FOLD. Twitter was it’s usual rational self.

Lulz.

The Birds dropped 2 of 3 against the struggling Phillies who push their home record to a measly 30-38. Midway through the game, even Matt Carpenter was hacking at first pitches, at which point Mike Matheny would have been justified in throwing a white towel out of the dugout and getting the boys an extra hour of sleep.

The Brewers won, pushing the Cardinals to 1.5 games back in the NL Central, 1 game back in the loss column.

If the objective is to win every series moving forward, the Cardinals failed their first test. The Phillies are not a good team and the Birds were digging out from under the rubble of Wainwright’s Friday night start.

Not much else to say.

On to Pittsburgh. Fingers crossed it’s a little more competitive than Sunday.
