Cardinals Wet The Bed, Again

AWESOME

Let’s start with the positive – 2:34 is a great length for a baseball game. The guillotine is less painful for everyone involved, I suppose.

Beyond that? I don’t know what even the most generous Cardinals fans can say about this stinker.

Carpenter, Holliday, Peralta, Taveras and Cruz all wore the collar. Adam Wainwright gave up a HR to a player who hadn’t cleared all four bases with one swing in 420 plate appearances at Marlins Park. Matt Adams’ ‘mental day off’ ended with a strike out.

Oh and Matheny? He was properly chastised by Tim McCarver for pitching to Donovan Solano in the 8 hole. Why? In the Marlins media release the team said that pitcher Jarred Cosart wouldn’t be swinging the bat for fear of further tweaking an injury.

The aforementioned 2 run home run ensued.

The Cardinals are now 2 games under .500 on the road for the season and will, at best, be 2-4 on this trip. A week that was identified as an optimal time to gain ground on the Brewers is quickly breaking bad.
