Wong Boosted To The Bigs

Wong

<![CDATA[Kolten Wong was recalled from AAA Memphis earlier today, replacing Greg Garcia on the roster. Poor Greg – thanks for the walk-off beanball, now go away.

Wong hit .344 in 15 games with the Redbirds with 10 RBIs and 2 HRs. He was also 5-5 in steal attempts. Basically, he was pwning the Pacific Coast League. Which by the stats of every Cardinals call up is a true baseball bizarro world where hitters, castigated from The Show for tepid offense, dominate completely and without mercy.

Wong will most likely wear the collar tomorrow now that he’s back in St. Louis.

Mark Ellis’ corpse has been manning 2B for most of the past three weeks. And he’s rewarded the Cardinals with a .190 average, .260 OPB and only 2 extra base hits (both doubles).

Wong was demoted to try and kickstart his year. And whatever he was doing differently in Memphis has certainly worked. Now is the time to see if he can spark a stagnating team before a long homestand gets sideways.

Welcome back, Mr. Wong.
