For better or worse: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Last season the Wake Forest Demon Deacons went 4-8 in Jim Grobe’s final season. Their two conference wins came against Maryland and NC State and their worst loss came at the hands of Louisiana-Monroe. Dave Clawson, from Bowling Green, has replaced Grobe. Will Wake be better or worse than they were last season?

First let’s take a look at the schedule….

8/28 vs Louisiana-Monroe

9/6 vs Garner-Webb

9/13 at Utah State

9/20 vs Army

9/27 at Louisville

10/4 at Florida State

10/18 vs Syracuse

10/25 vs Boston College

11/6 vs Clemson

11/15 at NC State

11/22 vs Virginia Tech

11/29 at Duke

I like the Clawson hire and I think he will turn things around in Winston-Salem but I think it’s going to take time. Right now there is a talent void on the roster, at least compared to the rest of the league, so the Deacs will have to win because they are better coached and execute better. There isn’t much room for error.

Vegas has Wake’s win total at 4 wins and that feels right. Athlon has them finishing up 3-9 and Phil Steele has them finishing at the bottom of the Atlantic. I see them winning four games and equaling their total from last season.

Verdict: Push
