Colts Players Bowl Over the Summer

I have been following as many Colts players as I can this off-season on Twitter and Facebook to get an idea of what the players do in their spare time (no pun intended), and have been amazed at how much and how competitive so many players have been to this point at bowling alleys.  Recently Jerraud Powers announced as a point of pride that he had joined the “200 Club,” finally surpassing a score of 200 at the lanes.

To be honest, watching it all play out has been enjoyable because the team is building camaraderie and friendship off the field.  When Powers announced his accomplishment, Taj Smith was quick to congratulate him.  It is kind of cool to get a small glimpse into the kind of thing the players do for fun during their time off, and to see that they stick together.

Rookie Jordan Hemby recently tweeted a question about why it rains so much in Indianapolis.  I responded, telling him that it was partially due to the fact that the jet stream runs right through central and northern Indiana, meaning that much of the inclement weather that crosses the country runs right through the state.  He responded that it was “crazy.”

Jacques McClendon has spent much of his time recently discussing his experience at the rookie symposium in California.  He has commented that he has learned a lot and sat next to Cris Carter in first class on his way back from the symposium on Wednesday.  McClendon said he, “got some valuable info from him on what to expect.”

Third-year linebacker Philip Wheeler spent time in Atlanta playing softball with Braves great Dale Murphy and NBA on TNT television personality Craig Sager.
