The season is here, so naturally it is time to look ahead to the playoffs. No? This eight-part series takes a look at each division and discusses the outlook for every team in the NFL — in both the regular season and playoffs.

TEAM: Philadelphia Eagles
RECORD: 10-6 | Win Division
REASON: Even after trading away quarterback Donovan McNabb, the Philadelphia Eagles should be able to thrive with the pieces around new quarterback Kevin Kolb. Kolb has only started two games in his career, but he has shown a lot of promise, displayed poise, and has a strong arm. The talent of players like tight end Brent Celek and wide receiver DeSean Jackson will certainly benefit Kolb in his new role. The Eagles also boast a solid defense, which will help keep the ball in Kolb’s hands and keep him out of holes on the scoreboard.
TEAM: Dallas Cowboys
RECORD: 9-7 | No Playoffs
REASON: Like always, the Dallas Cowboys are cloaked in hype this year, but if the preseason was any indication, they still have a lot to work to do — they looked totally lost. While preseason is somewhat pointless as a gauge for regular season success, what the Cowboys did on the field was still awfully bad. Their first game should go a long way in silencing or bolstering critics. Will Tony Romo be in sync with his receivers? Does their weak offensive line improve? Was the Dallas defense in the fourth preseason game an indication of future struggles?
TEAM: New York Giants
RECORD: 9-7 | No Playoffs
REASON: The New York Giants should have a solid season, and may return to the form that led them to the Word Championship in 2007. The biggest question is whether their defense can return to its form. Eli Manning has plenty of offensive weapons. Until the team proves it is ready, they fall short of the playoffs again.
TEAM: Washington Redskins
RECORD: 4-12 | No Playoffs
REASON: There is no question that the Washington Redskins upgraded at quarterback when they added Donovan McNabb from the Philadelphia Eagles, their division rival. Still, what is going to become of the offensive line? McNabb was surrounded by young receiving talent in Philadelphia. Do the Redskins have enough weapons for him to make an immediate impact in 2010? Is the defense going to pull it together? What is Albert Haynesworth’s future? All of these questions and a difficult schedule put the Redskins at the bottom of the NFC East.
