The Injury Report (Giants v. Colts, Week 2)

It’s Friday, which can mean only one thing!  Happy “Injury Report Released” day!  After the jump you’ll find the status for each player on the Colts’ injury report, their participation notices for the week, and my speculation on their availability for Sunday night’s game.

Bob Sanders:  Did not practice all week.  He’s out 10-12 weeks as he recovers from surgery to repair his torn biceps.

Anthony Gonzalez:  Did not practice all week.  He’s out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain.  Expect to see him after the Colts bye week.

Cody Glenn:  He missed last week with a hamstring injury, but was a full participant this week.  Expect the special teamer to play.

Jacob Lacey:  Missed the past 3 weeks of practice and last week’s game with a concussion, but was cleared this week and has practiced fully.  Expect him to play on Sunday night.

Jeff Saturday:  Continued to practice fully.  Expect him to play this week.

Ramon Humber:   Missed practice on Thursday due to an illness, but practiced fully on Wednesday and Friday.  I expect the reserve linebacker to be active and ready to go for Sunday night.

Charlie Johnson:  Was limited in practice on Wednesday, but was able to be a full participant on Thursday.  He did not practice Friday — that seems, however, to be his practice schedule, as I suspect he was getting treatment from the trainers.  I expect him to play on Sunday night.

Ryan Diem:  Was a surprise addition to the injury report on Thursday, missing all of Thursday’s practice with a neck injury.  Was a limited participant on Friday, and I expect him to play Sunday night.  (Not that you’ll notice him making any blocks)

Clint Session:  The Colts linebacker has a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice on Wednesday.  Papa Smurf was able to return to practice, in a limited capacity, on Thursday, but may have suffered a setback as he ended up missing Friday’s practice.  Normally when a player’s participation lessens on a Friday, I tend to think they’ll miss the game, but Phil Wilson, of the Indianapolis Star, said he got the feeling, from talking to Session, that the linebacker would suit up on Sunday night.  I trust Phil, his gut is good enough for me, I think Session will play.

Gary Brackett:  Another surprise addition to the Colts’ injury report, Brackett was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but missed all of Friday with a back injury.  Having no information on the nature of the injury, I expect the Colts’ defensive Captain to be on the field Sunday night.

Robert Mathis:  The hits just keep on coming!  Mathis practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday, but sat out Friday’s practice with an ankle injury.  Again, no idea on the nature of the ankle injury, but Robert Mathis is a gamer, and I expect him to tough it out and be on the field Sunday night.

Jerraud Powers:  Late addition here, he apparently missed practice as well on Friday, but he is listed as Probable on the injury report, so it may just be a rest situation for his sore foot.

Official listings:

Out: Anthony Gonzalez,  Bob Sanders

Questionable: Gary Brackett, Ryan Diem, Ramon Humber, Chuck Johnson, Jacob Lacey, Robert Mathis, and Clint Session

Probable:  Jerraud Powers, Jeff Saturday, Cody Glenn

And if you’re interested in such things here’s the injury report for the Giants:

T Will Beatty, TE Kevin Boss, LB Chase Blackburn, and LB Philip Dillard are all ruled out.  WR Hakeem Nicks and DE Osi Umenyiora are questionable.
