2014 Tough Ruck

This post was written by my friend Ryan McDermott, who is running the 2014 Tough Ruck.

As some of you might know Doug Mitchell and I have been training to participate in this year’s Tough Ruck (toughruck.org), in conjunction with the Boston Athletic Association, who put on the Boston Marathon.

For those that don’t know, you’re probably asking “What is a ruck?” Well, we are marching 26.2 miles along the Battle Trail Road in historic Minute Man National Park, through Concord and Lexington… all while wearing 60+ pound packs in full battle dress, along side some of our local heroes from all branches of service, to honor those brave men and women that have given the greatest sacrifice and fallen in combat. It just so happens that, this year, we are marching on the same day as the original Patriot’s Day in 1775, commemorating the initial battles of the Revolutionary War. Pretty f’n cool!!!

Historically, Tough Ruck is an active-duty servicemen/women only event, but they have graciously allowed us to participate. To honor their open-armed welcome, I aim to raise as much money as humanly possible in the next 5 days. Please visit my fundraising page below and, if possible, donate whatever you can; whether it’s 1$ or 100$, it is all greatly appreciated.

This is an amazing charity doing amazing things. The Tough Ruck mission is to provide support and assistance to the families of our Fallen comrades throughout the United States. This is accomplished by providing the families of Fallen Service Members with the financial and emotional support that they need to make it through anything. I am more than happy, and frankly honored, to be helping raise funds for those men and women in need.

Thank you so much for taking a second to read this and much love to ya’ll… the support means a lot!!! Please pass on to anyone and everyone you might know willing to help a great cause!
