The Bruins head to Detroit to hopefully feast on some tender goaltending as Jonas Gustavsson has been named the starter for the Red Wings. It seems that Boston has caught a break, with Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi in a tryptophan coma and not playing in tonight's game. Okay, maybe they didn't overindulge on delicious turkey, but the Bruins can really give thanks that Datsyuk won't be wearing a red sweater.
Seriously, Pavel Datsyuk is just disgusting. Like yams. Yams are fucking gross.
So Jonas Gustavsson gets the start, like I mentioned earlier, because Jimmy Howard has gotten the stuffing beaten out of him this year. For some reason, Jimmy Howard hasn't been Jimmy Howard. Howard is 47th in the league in GAA with 2.72 and his SV% is .908, which ranks 48th. It's just not how Jimmy Howard plays. Gustavsson was good against the Bruins on October 14th where he turned away 28 of the 30 shots he faced like they were extra servings of green bean casserole.
We can only hope that as the Bruins settle down at the faceoff dot tonight, they are well prepared for whatever Detroit tries to serve to them.
Okay, these puns are lame.
Hanukkah also begins at sundown tonight so we want to wish all of our readers who celebrate a Happy Hanukkah.
Projected Lines
Both Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg made the trip to Detroit, but Kevan Miller hasn't been sent down yet. If Miller is sent down today (and not because he's played poorly, but because he's on emergency status) it would indicate that Seidenberg or McQuaid are ready to go.
Milan Lucic – David Krejci – Jarome Iginla
Brad Marchand – Patrice Bergeron – Loui Eriksson
Carl Söderberg – Chris Kelly – Reilly Smith
Shawn Thornton – Greg Campbell – Dan Paille
Zdeno Chara – Johnny Boychuk
Matt Bartkowski – Dougie Hamilton
Torey Krug – Kevan Miller
Tuukka Rask
