Game Day Preview: IT HAS BEGUN!!

Damn, this has been both the shortest and longest off season on the DOY crew’s lifetimes.  Oh sure, we found ways to pass the time (mostly by continuing the mock Vancouver and scoffing at the Stanley Cup hangover), but at long last…

The Philly team is going to have a different look to it than the one we embarrassed all those months ago.  Richards and Carter are gone, Simmonds and Voracek are in, and the Flyers finally have a goaltender instead of just pulling random bums off the street and giving them pads in exchange for a few nickels and some pennies.

For those going to the Garden today, do it EARLY.  There is a fan event starting at 4 that’s open to everyone, and the banner raising starts at 6:30.

In case you missed it, the roster for the season is this:

Forwards: Patrice Bergeron, Gregory Campbell, Jordan Caron, Nathan Horton, Chris Kelly, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Rich Peverley, Benoit Pouliot, Tyler Seguin, Shawn Thornton

Defensemen: Matt Bartkowski, Johnny Boychuk, Zdeno Chara, Joe Corvo, Andrew Ference, Adam McQuaid, Dennis Seidenberg

Kampfer is obviously out for a few weeks, then we’ll see if he replaces Bartkowski.

The Boston Bruins title defense has begun, and we here at DOY expect all of you fans to conduct yourself in a manner that represents a championship team.  Get loud, hell, get fucking crazy.  Engage in some witty banter with the other team’s fans (though it’s Philly…not sure how witty it can be). 

The season opener is tonight gang, time for some fun, and to quote Jack Edwards:  “Who has more fun than us”.

Projected Roster:

Nothing is officially released yet, so we’ll update when it is.  Chances are Bartkowski and (unfortunately) Caron sit tonight though.  Here’s an idea of how the lines may look:
