Well… it’s certainly draft week…

Four days until the draft. Four days until all these stupid rumors die down. Like the Savard to Florida rumor. When people are creating false rumors, you figure they’d at least take the time to see if the player in question has a no movement clause or not. Same with Thomas. They’d have to approve of any trade first. But that doesn’t stop people. Oh well. Friday is going to be an exciting day for Bruins fans. But if you sift through all the bullshit, there are actually a few news worthy Bruins items. After the jump… is Thomas actually on his way out? Bruins going Celtic?

Well... it's certainly draft week...
Last trophy Thomas wins with the B’s?

If you don’t know Joe Haggerty, you should. He covers the Bruins for Comcast Sports Network New England and is very reliable. Haggs, as he’s known, isn’t one to post rumors just to get some hits. Earlier today he reported via Twitter, and then csnne.com, that the Bruins are shopping Thomas:

Sources have confirmed to CSNNE.com that the Bruins’ top priority on the trade front is to move veteran goalie Tim Thomas, who lost his job to Tuukka Rask in the second half of the year. Thomas underwent hip surgery at season’s end, but general manager Peter Chiarelli said recently that Thomas is recovering well and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in mid-September. Sources say the Bruins have discussed Thomas with San Jose, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

Interesting, especially considering Thomas is coming off hip surgery. But all three of those teams are looking for more reliable goaltending and Thomas is no slouch. We think the Bruins top priority should be moving Ference, Ryder or Wheeler. But hey, what do we know. And really, what team would take any of them? There’s always hope. We won’t really discuss this in detail until something actually happens. We like Timmy, but Rask looks good and moving him may be a necessary evil. And Timmy wants to be a #1 goalie and may not get that here again. Who knows. Whatevs for now. In other news the Bruins are headed to Ireland for a pre-season game in Belfast against the Belfast Giants Select.

Well... it's certainly draft week...
He’s ready for Ireland.

Check out the Bruins site for the official press release.

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today the club will spend a portion of their 2010-11 preseason in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as part of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Challenge, highlighted by an exhibition game in Belfast against the Belfast Giants Select on Saturday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. local/ 2:00 p.m. ET. Chiarelli also announced the team’s full preseason game schedule and training camp critical dates. Training camp practice times and locations, as well as all television broadcast and radio information, will be released at a later date.

Also, due to the Prague trip Boston’s home opener will not be until October 21st. Against the Capitals. Hmm.. hopefully it doesn’t start like last year…… But for now, we’re having a lot of fun with all the fake rumors. And seeing the ones people create to mock the horrendously bad rumors. Good stuff by Greg Ezell today. Although this one may be true…

We’ll be back tomorrow with some pre-draft/free agency stuff. Adios!
