Fister Pitches a Complete Game One Hitter in Win Over Indians!

The Sox lost the first game of the series with the Indians and hoped to even up the series with a win last night.   The Sox had Doug Fister on the mound and after his last poor performance against the Indians, a lot of people were not expecting much.   Fister gave up a lead off home run in the 1st, but that would be the last hit he gave up.   He ended up pitching 9 strong innings and with the Sox offense scoring him 9 runs, it was probably one of the easiest wins of his career.   Fister definitely looked like someone welcome to stay in the rotation with this last performance.

The Sox scored in the top of the 1st when Hanley Ramirez hit an RBI single to score Benintendi.   Sox 1-0.   The Indians scored it right up when Fister gave up a lead off home run to Lindor.  Sox 1-1.  The Sox grabbed the lead right back in the top of the 2nd when Leon hit an RBI sac fly.   Sox 2-1.  The Sox added another run in the 5th when Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a solo home run.  Sox 3-1.  The Sox lead 6-1 after the 6th inning when Nunez hit a 2 run RBI double and then Benintendi hit an RBI double.  Sox 6-1.  The Sox got three more runs in the 8th when Nunez hit a 3 run homer.   Sox 9-1.

The Sox bats were hot last night and Fister was just as dominant.   After Fister gave up a single hit and run to start the game, he didn’t give up a hit after that.   Fister pitched a complete game one hitter.   So close to a no hitter and just what the Sox needed to even up the series.   Fister looked like the pitcher of old when he used to dominate with the Tigers.   Fister’s pitching line was 114 pitches, 9 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB and 6 Ks.   He was one homer short of a no hitter.   With Price having a set back and being shut down again, this kind of outing from Fister is just what the team needed to see.
