Fister Shines As Sox Beat Yankees

The Sox lost the first game of a 4 game set with the Yankees on Thursday night.   The Sox had Doug Fister vs. Sonny Gray on Friday night.   Fister gave up a solo run in the 1st, but then settled down into another quality start.  The Sox scored all their runs by way of the home run and won the 2nd game of the series with ease.

The Yankees got on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Judge hit an RBI double.   Luckily, after that Fister wouldn’t give up another run and only 2 more hits after that first inning.  Sox 0-1.  The Sox struck back and took the lead in the 3rd inning when Nunez hit a 2 run homer.   Sabathia has complained about Nunez bunting in the first game of the series, so Nunez just hit the ball out of the park instead.   Sox 2-1.

The Sox added on another run in the 5th inning when Andrew Benintendi hit a solo home run.   Sox 3-1.  The Sox scored their 4th and final run in the 7th when Hanley Ramirez hit a solo home run of his own.   Sox 4-1.   Fister was still on the mound and was keeping the Yankees off the board.   Fister pitched through the 7th inning and was in line for the win.   His pitching line was 98 pitches, 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB and 5 Ks.  Addison Reed came out of the pen and pitched a scoreless 8th inning before handing the ball over to Kimbrel in the 9th.  Kimbrel had an easy 9th inning to get the win and the save.
