Samoa Joe’s Gigantic Stepping Stone

It’s the path that we have seen quite often over the last few years – guy wins NXT Title, guy loses NXT Title, guy goes after NXT Title again and loses, guy makes main roster debut shortly thereafter.

From the sound of things, we may be going down that same road again.

It seems like Samoa Joe has owned NXT for the better part of 2016. Spending most of the year as NXT Champions, The Samoan Submission Machine has shown what most of us already knew when he signed with WWE last year…he is ready for the main roster.

Which begs the question – when will he be making that jump?

Rumors have started swirling that may have answered that question. Last week on Raw, Braun Strowman, tired of being fed local talent week after week (I’m including Sin Cara in that jobber mix), demanded Mick Foley bring him better competition.

Obviously this doesn’t mean we will see Strowman in the ring with the likes of Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns right off the bat, we’ll see a build. My guess is that Strowman spends the next couple of months mowing through some of the lower actual names on the Raw roster until it seems like no one can stop him.

…which brings us to the aforementioned rumors. Word going around is that once Strowman reaches that untouchable level, Samoa Joe will be brought in to topple the giant for a big initial push. This makes a lot of sense as Joe has proven in TNA that he can handle a top spot in a company.

That begs the questions though, where would that take Joe? What would be next?

Picture this, after taking out Strowman, Joe is in the middle of the ring bragging about how he cannot be stopped. If Strowman can’t beat him, who could? No man…no giant…no beast!

Uh-oh…BEAST?

The familiar music hits and out comes Paul Heyman on behalf of his client (who I’m just assuming won’t be live for that particular show). Heyman congratulates Joe on his big win but laughs at the notion that he is unbeatable. There is only one man that is unbeatable and that is BRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOCK…well, you know.

Where this clash of titans takes place obviously depends on how long they want to build Strowman. I think it makes sense to see Strowman dominate into 2017 with Samoa Joe making his debut as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble where he eliminates Strowman.

This will give us a month of build up until Joe and Strowman meet at Raw’s February pay-per-view where Joe pulls out the win. The next night we get our Samoa Joe/Paul Heyman encounter and we have ourselves a nice little WrestleMania match between the two.

It’s funny that this idea is coming off of the heels of the latest Goldberg/Lesnar rumors as this Lesnar/Joe WrestleMania matchup would end up being what we should have saw in 2004. Samoa Joe has potential to be something big, and it could start soon.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS A SAMOA JOE/BROCK LESNAR MATCH NOT TOO FAR AWAY? IS THIS THE BEST WAY TO INTRODUCE JOE TO THE MAIN ROSTER? FOLLOW US ON TWITTER @FROM_THETOPROPE AND LET US KNOW!
