The Cincinnati Reds might’ve lost 5-3 to their interstate rival Cleveland Indians Sunday, but Aroldis Chapman had a day to remember.

With a bases loaded strikeout of Giovanny Urshela in the tenth inning, the “Cuban Missile became the fastest pitcher in baseball history to notch 500 strikeouts….needing just 292 innings to reach the milestone.

The previous holder, San Diego Padres closer Craig Kimbrel set the previous mark less than two months ago when he reached his 500th K in his 305th.

For what it’s worth, both Kimbrel and Chapman shattered the previous mark. In 2000, Billy Wagner reached 500 strikeouts in 341 innings while with the Houston Astros.
