Bartman Seat Still Available for Game Six

Between now and the conclusion of Saturday night’s Game Six of the NLCS between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers, you’re going to see a lot of replays and hear a lot of chatter about Steve Bartman.

It’s been just more than 13 years since the fan interfered (depending on who you ask) with a foul ball and (again, depending on who you ask) kept the Lovable Losers from advancing to their first World Series since very early in the Truman administration.

Welp. Here we are again, kids. The Cubs are in virtually the same position they were in in 2003…up 3-2 in the NLCS and on the verge of possibly taking on the Cleveland Indians who, themselves, are saddling with several decades of futility.

And here’s the best part…you have the chance to help change the course of history. Well…kinda.

But it’s going to cost you.

Imagine yourself sitting there, listening to your Walkman, watching your favorite team up 3-0 with five outs to go against the then-Florida Marlins when a foul ball gets hit your way. What would you do?

“He should’ve been wearing a glove. It’s that simple,” famed ballhawk Zack Hample told The Hall. “If I were a diehard Cubs fan, I would’ve held back and not reached for the ball so that Moises Alou would’ve had a better shot. If I were there as myself (without any allegiance to any team), I would’ve caught the damn thing.”

So what are you waiting for? Go scrape your nickels together, purchase Seat 113 in Aisle 4, Row 8 and make sure you help send your Cubs to the World Series.

If you don’t…it could all happen again.
