Brian McCann’s Agent: Boston a “Consideration”

I can't believe I'm about to say it, but baseball's hot stove is already starting to, ugh…heat up.

According to the Boston Herald, longtime Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann would consider a move to Boston.

"Certainly Boston is a city that Brian likes, and he has always respected the organization and the front office," said McCann's agent B.B. Abbott. "Obviously, the coaching staff and clubhouse unity is attractive. He has also always been fascinated with the fan base, their support of the Red Sox and the history of the organization. Boston would certainly be a place that would be a consideration for Brian."

There are three quick and easy reasons why signing with the Red Sox would make sense.

One…the World Champs are in need of a someone behind the plate.  On Monday, they declined to make a qualifying offer to Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who started 119 games at catcher this past season.

Two…the seven-time All-Star would provide a nice bat in the middle of Boston's lineup.  McCann has hit 20 or more home runs in seven of his eight seasons in the Majors.
