CC Sabathia Reaches Milestone

Before Brian Kenny can call anyone who cares about CC Sabathia's win total a "sheep"…the burly New York Yankees pitcher reached a significant milestone Wendesday night.

With a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins, the lefty became the third pitcher (Roy Halladay and Tim Hudson were the other two) this season to collect his 200th victory.  Additionally, Sabathia, who turns 33 later this month, became just the 27th pitcher in big league history (and only the eighth since 1961) to reach the milestone before his 33rd birthday.

"I don't know if it means anything right now. I'll be ready in five days to go again and I guess try and get 201." Sabathia told reporters following the game.  "It feels good. Maybe one day I can look back and be excited but right now we're in the middle of a season still grinding."

“It’s amazing,” teammate Phil Hughes said. “Now he can chug on for a hundred more. He’s young enough. He’s got the best shot of anyone in baseball to win 300, so he could do it."

And who knows…he just might.
