Cubs Owner Calls Out Mets Fans

St. Louis Cardinals fans hate Chicago Cubs fans and, as a rule, Cubs fans should hate Cardinals fans in return.

Team co-owner Todd Ricketts would like everyone to know…the self-proclaimed best fans in baseball aren’t the worst ones out there.

“I don’t know if you guys know this, but Mets fans are really, really obnoxious,” Ricketts said during the team’s recent fan convention. “We go to Pittsburgh and we have a great time. The energy level is great. We go to St. Louis and the fans there — they were a little more confident — but still friendly and hospitable. And then there was New York.”

If Ricketts thought Mets fans were bad in 2015, imagine them going forward knowing that they’ve got that pitching staff in place for the next few years and Yoenis Cespedes back in Queens for, at least, the next three seasons.

The Cubs don’t head to Citi Field until June 30, but I’ve to think dude calling Mets fans “obnoxious” is going to be something that will be remembered and shoved down their throats that entire trip. And possibly rightfully so.

But if I’m a Mets fan, I’m pointing to my National League pennant, quietly mouthing “scoreboard” and heading on my way.
