Delmon Young Arrested in Miami

Delmon Young is in trouble with the law again.

The free agent was arrested late Sunday night in Miami after (allegedly) choking and threatening to kill a valet attendant. According to the police report, the attendant refused Young entry into an elevator that led to a closed nightclub at the Viceroy hotel. ‘

Police say Young shouted, “Stupid Cuban. Open the (expletive) door.” But that was just the start.

After the valet repeated that the club was closed, Young then told him, “I’m gonna (expletive) kill you, you Latin piece of (expletive).” The 2012 ALCS MVP reportedly then attempted to choke the man. The 30-year-old journeyman outfielder was arrested and charged with battery, but would later be released after posting bond.

Not cool.

Unfortunately, this isn’t Young’s first time being arrested. In 2012, while in New York, Young went on a drunken, anti-Semetic rampage…shouting “F-ing Jews” to a group of tourists. He was charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor with a hate-crime element after assaulting one of the men.

Young pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment and was sentenced to perform ten days of community service and ordered to attend a program at the Museum of Tolerance.

In addition to his scrapes with the law, the ten-year pro has been suspended for incidents involving contact with an umpire.

Young spent 2015 with the Baltimore Orioles, hitting .270 in 180 plate appearances.
