Jared Remy, son of Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, was arrested and charged with murder early Friday after authorities were called to a suburban Boston home Thursday night.
At the residence, police found Jared Remy's 27-year-old girlfriend with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
This wasn't the first time the cops visited the couple's place. Police records indicate officers were called to the same address August 13 and arrested Jared Remy for assault and battery. A day later, he was released. Now, the 31-year-old is expected to be back in court Friday facing murder and assault and battery charges.
But this isn't the first time the younger Remy has made headlines in Boston.
According to the Boston Globe, Jared Remy and a member of the Red Sox security staff were implicated in steroid use back in 2009. Naturally, this led Major League Baseball to open an investigation into the alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs by the team. Both men were fired by the Red Sox.
Later, Jared Remy would end up denying he supplied steroids to anyone within the franchise.
Jared Remy's dad Jerry played for the Red Sox for tens seasons and, in 1978, was named an American League All-Star while playing second base. Currently, he serves as the team's color commentator for the New England Sports Network. In 2006, the Red Sox inducted him into their Hall of Fame.
